Major Bedhead

Today Weston greeted me with a big, excited smile and quite the fro when I came to get him from his morning nap. I love getting him up because I always get this huge smile from him when he first sees me. Usually he's standing up just like this, waiting to be rescued from his crib, but sometimes I'll find him sitting, peeking between the bars and patiently waiting for me.
Here's the side view of this wild, crazy hair. No gel--this is the real thing!

Our little pumpkin!
Or should I say Jack-O-Lantern?
It's crazy, but Weston is getting his two eye-teeth before his two front ones. When he smiles really big, you can see two little fangs! I thought the pumpkin outfit would be just the thing.
Weston didn't seem too sure about his costume. He stayed in it long enough to have his pictures taken. Poor guy was wet with sweat only after being in it for 10 minutes. It was 92 degrees at the high today, so I'm sure lots of kids were roasting in their costumes. That's Arizona for you.
Since Gordon and I have been married, our Halloween tradition is to have soup and bread bowls over at Grandma and Grandpa Devers. I look forward to this soup all year! We had pumpkin soup, vegetable soup, and Southwest chicken soup. The only thing that would make it more perfect was if it was actually cold oustide. All the grandkids stop in for dinner and other tasty treats, and then everyone goes their separate ways to go trick-or-treating etc.
No trick-or-treating for Weston this year. He was so tired. We stayed to see a few trick-or-treaters and then went home to put him to bed. How our lives have changed!
Happy Halloween!

I've noticed lately that Weston is such a people person. He lights up a room with his smile and has this charisma that draws people to him. I can't describe the joy this little guy brings us. He is my little ray of sunshine.
This is Weston in his exer-saucer. He loves it. It's like his own personal office. He spins in his chair, moving from one toy to the other, thinking hmm...what toy should I go for next? Of course, most of them go straight to his mouth. We took pictures of Weston tonight because we thought he looked so cute in his new blanket sleeper. It was probably the first cold night tonight, and this was his first time wearing a sleeper in months.

One of Weston's favorite things to do with dad is pull his hair.
Here's Gordon getting a good scalp massage :)

Chasing Autumn

I had Thursday and Friday off for my fall break and so we decided to go to Tucson. Gordon and I were going to take a trip up to Safford, and enjoy the cooler weather and maybe even go apple picking, but we decided not to because of the gas prices.
So we went with my parents to Mt. Lemon instead (this is Weston and Grandma!). It took about an hour and a half from my parent's house to get all the way to the ski lifts. It's amazing because as you go up the mountain, you're surrounded by Saugaro cacti and rocky desert, but before you know it you're deep in a pinewood forest and the temperature has dropped about 30 degrees.
I desperately wanted to see some of the aspen trees up there and for once enjoy a little glimpse of autumn. We were in luck! Every now and then we saw tiny bursts of flaming red, orange and yellow leaves coming through the pine trees. When we got to the top of the mountain, the air was crisp and cool and I actually got to put on my jacket! We drove through a cloud the whole way there and so we even got to enjoy a little bit of rain. I was in heaven--if only it were like this 9,000 feet lower in the valley.
We stopped at a shop to get some fudge, but had to leave pretty quickly. The wind was so violent that many trees had been knocked down. We took this picture just as a group of firemen were removing the remains of a pine tree that had fallen in the road while we were inside the store. I'm so glad I got my autumn fix--my dream is to someday live where there are seasons and where it's not still 100 degrees in mid-October!

Weston is chilling on the couch with me, watching our favorite TV show...Wheel of Fortune.
Yes, Gordon and I are addicted to it. It's really the only show we watch in the evenings, and we hardly ever miss an episode. After both coming home from work, we used to race to make dinner so we could sit and eat while watching. However, now we race to give Weston his bath and get him ready for bed, since 6:30 happens to be his bedtime. I must say, we're both pretty good at solving the puzzles, and yes, we have our own Spin Ids. Gordon keeps filling out online applications to get me on the show, but I think the chances of that are pretty slim, and I think he would do better than me anyway.

As a result of all this, Weston has become a Wheel of Fortune junkie like his mom and dad. Not a bad show to be hooked on in an English major's opinion--he'll for sure learn his words!

Our handsome little boy!

Weston is all dressed and ready for church. We combed his hair down for the first time and he looked adorable--so grown up all of a sudden!
So good-looking!
